I have worked with books for all my working life (which is rather more years than I care to admit), starting life as a librarian in the field of mining and metallurgy. While raising my two children, I started a freelance editing business, which I maintained for 15 years before going back into full-time employment. As Head of Publishing for a medical Royal College, I published a varied booklist, several journals and an online distance-learning programme, together with a plethora of official reports and marketing materials. Part of my role involved training editors, authors, administrative staff and anyone else who was interested in copy-editing and proofreading.
I now run my freelance editorial business from the glorious Wye Valley and have also expanded into consultancy and hen keeping. I am a tutor for the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP) and am currently also a member of the SfEP Council and Professional Development Director, responsible for the Society's Admissions Panel.
I am a member of the South Wales Editors group.
